Nettleton—Earvin Wesley Terry Sr., 84, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at NMMC in Tupelo, MS. Born in Houston, MS on November 20, 1935, he was a son of James Alvin and Maggie Bell Jackson Terry.
A jack-of-all-trades, Earvin worked in upholstery and the furniture industry throughout most of his life. He was of the Pentecostal faith. Even though he had no formal education, Earvin proved his wisdom through life experiences time and time again, earning the nickname “Doc.” He could figure out anything placed in front of him and was an intelligent and hard worker.
Earvin’s family brought him the greatest joy in life. He was known as a jokester and could make a room full of people laugh. In his free time, Earvin loved fishing and gambling. This loveable man will be dearly missed by his friends and family.
Earvin is survived by his daughters, Patricia Foradori (Michael), of Aberdeen, Carolyn Floyd, Blue Springs, Vickey Neal, Amory, Phyllis Lindsey (BJ), Guntown, Ameris Crowe, Pontotoc; sons, Earvin Terry II (Ruth), Columbus, Danny Joe Terry, Nettleton, Guy Terry, Saltillo; 20 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; brother, Winford Terry (Cathy), of Aberdeen; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Earvin was preceded in death by 21 siblings.
A funeral service will be held at 3PM on Friday, February 28, 2020 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, with Bro. Coy Hill officiating. There will be no graveside services. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will include Justin Bowen, Aaron Keith, Jonathan McNutt, Earvin Wesley Terry III, Bill Brand, Butch Foster, Jacob Thrasher.
