Amory - Ellison Jesse "E. J." Wideman, 87, passed away at his residence on March 8, 2016. He was born Oct. 10, 1928, near Quincy, MS, to the late Claude and Esther Turner Wideman.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was employed for 19 years by the City of Amory Electric Department, 9 years by Monroe County Electric Power Assn., and retired from the Maintenance Department of Itawamba Community College, Fulton, MS., in 1995. He was of the Baptist faith and his lifelong hobby was restoring ‘Vintage’ cars, of which, he was a master craftsman.
He is survived by his daughter, Vanessa Ray, Amory, MS; son, Jeff Wideman (Amanda), Amory; brother, Dudley Wideman (Nancy), Kenosha, WI; grandchildren, Jake Ray (Hilari), Sarasota, FL.; Emily Ray, Conway, AR.; Katie and Caleb Funderburk, Wren; son-in-law, Ricky Funderburk, Wren; several cousins, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Yvonne Funderburk; sisters, Carolyn Wideman and Hazel Browning; special friend, Harold Tucker.
Visitation will be Friday, March 11, 2016, from 9-10:45 am at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with a Graveside Service at 11:00 am at Haughton Memorial Park with Dr. Charlie Boggan officiating. Pallbearers will be Jake Ray, Caleb Funderburk, Jeff Wideman, Ricky Funderburk, Charles Jones, and Joey Taylor.
