Doug Stanford

Amory –Douglas “Doug” Stanford, 63, passed away on Sunday March 10, 2024, in Tupelo, Mississippi with his wife and son by his side. Doug was born April 1,1960 in Amory, Mississippi to the late Pete and Joan (Scott) Stanford.

He grew up in Monroe County, Mississippi and graduated from Amory High School, Class of 1979. A loving husband and father, he married Rebecca Pickle Stanford on August 1, 1997. They were blessed with 26 years and many memories together. Doug had three children, one daughter Beverly Wright (T.J.) of Amory and two sons, John Stanford (Casey), of Amory and Jacob Stanford, of the home.

Doug was a hard worker and good provider for his family. He was a proficient Body Shop Repairman and before his retirement he worked over 30 years at Loden’s Body Shop and Taylor Body Shop where he was affectionally called “Bones”.

He was a Christian and a Baptist. The most important thing to him was his family, and he was most proud of their home that he built himself. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to classic rock music, fishing, and traveling. He also liked drag racing with Rebecca by his side in cars he built himself.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; his children, Beverly Wright, Jacob Stanford, and John Stanford; several grandchildren; his brother, Mark Stanford (Amy), of Tupelo; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Pete and Joan Stanford.

A graveside service will be held at 2 P.M. at North Harmony Cemetery with Dr. Lloyd Sweatt officiating.
