– Dorothy Lee West Crump, 78, died on Monday, February 6, 2012, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Born on November 11, 1933, in Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late Leonard Alfonso and Betty Francis Lay West. Mrs. Crump was a graduate of Becker High School. Before becoming a homemaker to rear her family, she had worked as a telephone operator and a bank teller. Mrs. Crump was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Very family-oriented, she enjoyed spending time with family, friends, flower gardening, cooking, and writing calligraphy. A caring lady, Mrs. Crump was passionate about helping other people. When unable to attend church, she looked forward to listening to Adrian Rogers, David Jeremiah, John Hagge, and Charles Stanley. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, February 9 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Mac Phillips and Rev. Tom Sheffield officiating. Burial will follow in Durrett Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Toady Boyd, W. B. West, Jerry West, Bobby West, Sonny Allen, Jeff Shepherd, and David Evans. Honorary pallbearers will be James West, Larry Sykes, David Banks, Troy Carter, Bill Tate and Marvin Griggs. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Crump Pate; sons, Leonard Crump (Vicki), Ron Crump (Tracy), and Lee Crump; sister, Catherine Funderburk; grandchildren, Will Pate (Crysta), Wes Pate, Jordan Crump, and Jared Crump; great-granddaughter, Allie Kathryn Pate; numerous nieces and nephews; and many special friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Crump; sisters, Virgie Boyd, Mildred Boyd, and Marie Pointer; and brothers, Roy, Albert and Bo West.
