Dorothy Jeanell 'Nell' Plunkett

Amory - Dorothy Jeanell “Nell’ Plunkett, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at NMMC-Gilmore, Amory. Born on February 23, 1944, in Greenwood Springs, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Rankin and Wonnie Flora Addington Plunkett.

Nell graduated from Smithville School, Class of 1962. She was blessed to have had two wonderful husbands who preceded her in death, James Henry Dulaney and Loyal Sartin.

A believer in God, she was of the Missionary Baptist faith. Nell dearly loved and enjoyed her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family remembers her as the “Best Mom,” as well as a very loving mom who was softly spoken and was a beautiful angel to all her family. For 32 years, she was a very dedicated seamstress, working for Monroe Trousers for 32 years. After retiring, she worked for Pickle Barrel and The Hitching Post.

An amazing cook, her specialties were biscuits, chicken and dumplings, making chocolate and oatmill cookies, and chocolate gravy. Nell enjoyed working in her flower gardens; making pillows for her great-grands; singing and playing the piano; sewing; and listening to Gospel music.

Nell is survived by her daughters, Teresa Steele, Fulton, and Tammy Gentry, Nettleton; sons, Travis D. Dulany, Sr., Amory; Truman Dulaney, NY; and Nathan Sartin, Ohio; sisters, Joyce Guyton, Tupelo, and Sheryl Tyler, Northfork, AL; brothers, Wayne Plunkett (Kaye), Marshfield, MO, and Danny Plunkett (Cairon), Fulton; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Eulene Caldwell and Deborah Scott.

In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by a niece, Mary Joyce Ray.

A Family Gathering with burial following will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 8, 2019, in Bethlehem Cemetery.
