Amory – Dorothy Onita Pickle, 88, died on Monday, May 4, 2015, at her residence in Amory. Born on November 28, 1926, in Amory, she was a daughter of the late Virgil C. and Iuna Noe Stanford.
Mrs. Pickle attended school in Bigbee. She married the love of her life, Herston Pickle, on October 23, 1946. Together, they were Entrepreneurs and they started Pickle Drive In Restaurant in 1962. Their business was a beloved and thriving business in the community. She was a long time member at Bigbee Baptist Church. Very loving and giving, her family gave her the most enjoyment in life. She really enjoyed spending time with her grandkids. During her free time, she liked to garden and do yard work. Mrs. Pickle liked to listen to Southern Gospel. Of all her accomplishments, her family gave her the most pride in her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Harlow (Jimmy), Wren; son, Dennis Pickle (Charlotte), Amory; sister, Jean Tubb, Amory; brother, Harold Stanford (Wanda), Arkansas; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Phil Pickle; sisters, Flora Seals, Ollie Bell Parham, Myrtle Cantrell, and Geraldine Thompson; brothers, Earnest Stanford, J.D. Stanford, Dale Stanford, Junior Stanford, and Joe Stanford.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, May 7, 2015, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Lloyd Sweat officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jackie Seales, Larry Seales, David Pickle, Jimmy Brown, Bobby Cantrell, David Stanford, Danny Stanford, Brad Stanford, Kent Stanford, Eddie Stanford, and Cliff Tubb.
Visitation will be from 5–8 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
