Amory – Dorothy L. Parrish, 71, died on Friday, May 27, 2011, at Gilmore Memorial RMC, Amory. Born on October 30, 1939, in Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late Errie Judson and Leslie Gertrude Vick Brown.
The oldest of fourteen children, Dorothy became the mother for her children when their mom died at a young age. She worked as a Nurse’s Aide for Beverly Health Care for several years before retiring and also worked as a sitter with elderly people. A devoted woman of faith, Dorothy was a member of True Word Gospel Church. Having a big heart, she was a sweet and lovely woman who would do anything to help other people. Dorothy enjoyed getting out to go shopping, loved to talk with people, enjoyed crocheting quilts and loved animals.
She is survived by her sisters, Ava Copelin, Janice Ann Livingston, and Judy Ann Adams, all of Amory; brothers, Dubert Brown, Jimmy Dale Brown, and William Brown, all of Amory and Larry Gene Brown, Aberdeen; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Peggy Ann Parrish; sisters, Patricia Kay Oliver and Brenda Sue Peden; and brothers, Redus Ray Brown, Roy Douglas Brown, and Doyle Edward Brown.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, May 30 in Hatley Cemetery with Bro. Robert E. Fowlkes officiating. Visitation will be from 9 – 10:45 AM at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:45 AM to go in procession to the cemetery.
