Amory- Dorothy Mae Evans Smith, 69, died Sunday, January 26, 2014 in Fulton. Born March 6, 1944 in Sledge, MS, she was a daughter of James Evans, Sr. and Annie Bell Knight.
An honest, independent, and hard working lady, she believed in taking care of her family and had worked at Rosatoes of Tupelo, Bobby Brooks of West Helena, AR and Lady Luck Casino in Lula, MS. Her passion was education and reading, studying academics at Phillips College University of Arkansas. She was a member of Christian Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren, playing bingo, entering pool tournaments, many of which she won.
She is survived by her daughters, Katrina Smith, West Helena, Tracy McCullar (Troy), Amory, Kristina Smith (Bruce), Priestville; sons, William Smith (Pat), Fulton and Ed Smith (Sylvia), Amory; grandchildren, Billy Joe Staten, Stacy McCullar- Welch, Marlin Dae McCullar, Shana Christian, Lukus Christian, Warren Christian, Virginia Christian, Jessica Smith-Dumas, Jennifer Paige Smith-Armstrong, Jeremy Smith and Mitchell Staggs.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, James and Jack Evans, granddaughter, Delana Marie Smith.
A Celebration of Life Service will be helad at 11am, Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. David Harrell and Bro. Tommy Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andilynn Faith Welch, Jeremy Lee Smith, Warren Christian, Jon McCullar, Dylan Micheal Welch and Lukus Christian. Honorary pallbearers will be Troy McCullar, Bruce Smith, Marlin McCullar, Ronnie Griggs and Mitchell Staggs.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 5-8pm at the funeral home.
