Cason Community – Dorothy “Dot” Eloise Kennedy, 75, passed away on January 8, 2017, at North MS Medical Center, Tupelo. Born on September 22, 1941, in Belden, MS, she was a daughter of the late Arlie Jewette and Burma Lee Patton Palmer.
Dot attended Carolina School where she was a great basketball player. She married the love of her life, Lee N. Kennedy, on March 20, 1957. He affectionately called her “Snook.” A dedicated worker, Dot was a pocket corder for 30 years with Longenecker. Strong in her faith, she was a member of Bigbee Baptist Church for many years. When she was able, Dorothy attended church with Lee. A sweet, jolly, and giving lady, Dot had a very infectious laugh and she brought smiles to all people she met. She was a great cook and she loved cooking meals for family get-togethers and making her favorite desserts, banana pudding and coconut cake.
She enjoyed shopping, sewing, camping and singing with Lee and his brothers as they played their instruments. With Bluegrass Gospel being her favorite music, Lee and she enjoyed traveling to together to Bluegrass Festivals where they made many great memories. Dot will be missed dearly by all that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Lee N. Kennedy, Cason Community; sisters, who affectionately called her “Dotcy,” Janell Palmer, Tupelo; France Dill, West Point; Linda Doss (Henry), Tupelo; Joyce Cantrell (David), Tupelo; several nieces and nephews; numerous special friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanette Nash; brothers, Arlie Lee, Edward Trice, Charles, Boyce and Cecil Palmer; and brother-in-law, Norris Dill.
Her Funeral Service will be at 2 PM, Thursday, January 12 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Bro. Jackie Gray officiating. Burial will follow in New Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael, Randy and Mark Kennedy; Mitch Schumpert; David and Anthony Camp. Honorary pallbearer will be Henry Doss.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
