Amory – Dorothy “Jewell” Harlow Thompson, 75, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at her residence. Born on August 17, 1940, in Lee County, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Dorothy Mae Kimble Harlow.
Jewell attended school in Nettleton and completed her education with a GED certification. She loved her family and would always take care of family and friends in need. On June 6, 1962, she married Billy Thompson and together they raised two children. Jewel had one of the most important jobs in today’s society, a Homemaker. She was a faithful member of the Amory Church of God Prophecy and she loved to worship at church. In her free time, Jewell liked to dance and listen to Gospel or Country music. Most of all, she enjoyed going to yard sales and searching for treasures. One of her closest friends was Judy Wise and they liked to go out, eat and shop together.
Survivors include her daughter, Pam Thompson Corbell, Amory; son, John Oliver (Charles), Memphis; brothers, John Harlow (Donna), Amory, Bobby Harlow (Shirley), Amory; grandson, Brandon Corbell, Amory; nieces, Emily, Mandy, Lori, Jenny, and Vicky; nephews, Ricky, Mike, Chris, and Brian; special friend, Judy Wise.
In addition to her parents and husband, Billy, she was preceded in death by her brothers, C.F. Burgess, Jimmy Harlow; nephews, Tommy Harlow, B.J. Harlow; niece, Tonya Harlow.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 4, 2015, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel, Amory, with Bro. Joshua Gordon officiating. Pallbearers will be Mark Hester, Ryan Mendoza, Austin Funderburk, J.R. Funderburk, Ronald Taylor, and Brian Robertson.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Thursday, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, 848 Adams Ave, Memphis, Tennessee 38103.
