Bethlehem Community – Dorothy Jean Hathcock, 75, passed away at her residence on Sunday, August 27, 2017. Born on March 17, 1942, in Amory, Mississippi, Dorothy was a daughter of Orbie and Lesker Pierce Millican.
Dorothy attended Smithville High School. At the age of 13, she surrendered her heart to Jesus Christ. She was a faithful member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. She lived most of her life in the Bethlehem Community. During her career, she worked as a seamstress for Glenn Manufacturing. Dorothy married her soul-mate, Clinton Hathcock, on November 28, 1958. Together they were blessed with five children.
Two of Dorothy’s favorite things were her family and the great outdoors. She loved to go camping, and her favorite pastime was visiting the Smokey Mountains. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and cooking for her loved ones. She loved her family dearly, especially her precious grandkids. Dorothy will remain in the hearts of her family, but they rejoice that she is with her Father in Heaven.
Dorothy is survived by daughters, Cathie Dill, Smithville, Cindy Cowley (Chris), Smithville; sons, Mike Hathcock (Tracey), Smithville, Darwin Hathcock (Tammi), Smithville; sister, Maxine Vann (Jerry), Hamilton, AL; son-in-law, Lee Smith, Smithville; grandchildren, Dustin (April), Derrick, Josh (Kayla) and Hannah Hathcock; Brittany Franks; Taylor and Anna Katherine Smith; Todd and Lori Beth Cowley; great-grandchildren, Grayson Fears, Reagan Hathcock; a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Hathcock; daughter, Lori Angela Hathcock Smith; and sister, Ruth Van Nordan.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Smithville. Bro. Mike Tucker will be officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in the Bethlehem Community. Pallbearers will be Josh Hathcock, Grayson Fears, Todd Cowley, Dustin Hathcock, Derrick Hathcock, and Jay Vann.
Visitation for Dorothy Hathcock will be Monday evening, August 28, 2017 from 5-8 PM at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Smithville.
