Amory – Dorothy Carleen Finley, 87, died on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Columbus. Born on February 11, 1927, in the Carolina Community, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Dorothy Inez Knight Burt.

Mrs. Finley was a graduate of Nettleton High School, where she was captain of the basketball team. On October 30, 1948, she married Kenneth A. Finley. A loving and nurturing wife and mother, Mrs. Finley was a homemaker and taught kindergarten for a few years. She and her husband made their home in San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Houston, and Beeville, TX, and Jackson, MS, retiring in Amory. She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, the Crusaders Sunday school class, and the United Methodist Women. A people person, Mrs. Finley enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren; watching college and professional football and basketball on television; crossword puzzles; cooking; and reading.

She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Mullican (Danny), Waxahachie, TX; son, Edd Finley (Elane), Amory; grandchildren, Jake Mullican (Jennifer), Patrick Mullican (Theresa), Christa Kerby (Kyle), and Lauren Orlosky (Evan); great-grandchildren, Judson, Jase, Jonathan, Caity, and Lizzie Mullican; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years; and infant sister, Mildred Burt.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, April 1 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jake Mullican, Kyle Kerby, Lt. Evan Orlosky, US Air Force, Sam Carpenter, Mike Ausbon, Donald Young, and Edsel Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers will be Sgt. Patrick Mullican, US Army, and E. C. Carpenter.

Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM, Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to St. Andrews United Methodist Church, PO Box 535, Amory, MS 38821.
