Cason Community – Dorothy “Dot” L. Wildman Hester, 84, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, MS. Born on July 13, 1938, in Tippah County, Ripley, MS, she was the daughter of the late William Wildman and Lillie Mae Adams Wildman Reynolds.
Dot grew up in Ripley, later moved to Monroe County. She attended Cason School, played basketball and graduated with the class of 1955. On December 23, 1961, she married the love of her life, Harlon Lee Hester. They adopted a son, Vince, and together they were blessed with many happy years. Dot worked in nursing for several years and some of the facilities she worked at included Gilmore Hospital and P & S Clinic. She retired as a nurse and continued to work as a Walmart cashier for many years.
She loved the Lord and was a member of Cason Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school. She liked to listen to Gospel music. In her free time, she enjoyed watching sports on tv, like the Boston Celtics, and in person she liked watching basketball. Horses were her passion and from 1961-1974, she competed in local horse shows. Dot also enjoyed taking care of family, especially her Mam Maw and her little dog “Tiny”. She loved God, her husband Harlan, family, and friends, especially her close friend, Linda Maxey. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Dot is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harlan, Amory; brother, Billy Wildman (Harriett), Nettleton; sister-in-law, Marie Wildman, Nettleton; niece, Dianne Wildman; nephew, Jerry Wayne Wildman; cousins, Judy Pryor, Tupelo, Marcie Barreau, Mooresville; special friends, Patsy Ryan and Sue Maxey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Vince Hester; brother, Buddy Wildman; niece, Billy Joe Wildman; nephew, Ricky Wildman; step-father, Scott Reynolds.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2020, at 12:00 pm, E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, MS with Bro. Jim Manley and Bro. Matt Long. Burial will be at Liberty Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Maxey, Roger Dean, Jason Dean, Noel Jones. Honorary Pallbearer will be Louis Dean.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 am until the service hour on Friday, September 25, 2020.
