Dorothy Ann Clay Harlow
Smithville – Dorothy “Dot” Harlow, 82, with her family surrounding her, became totally healed and started her new life in Heaven on Friday, June 23, 2023. She was born on March 25, 1941, in Pontotoc, MS to the late Calvin Maurice Clay and Leona Hale Clay.
Dot grew up in Monroe County and graduated from Smithville High School with the class of 1959. She furthered her education at Itawamba Community College. For over 42 years, Dot served the public as a Bank Teller for the Bank of Amory as well as Renasant Bank. She was a warm smile and familiar face for so many in the community for years. She married the love of her life, James A. Harlow on August 13, 1961 and together they shared over 61 years together. He was her soulmate and best friend. They were blessed with a daughter and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she cherished.
Dot loved the Lord, was a devout Christian and her relationship with Jesus along with her family meant the world to her. She was committed to her family, loved being a mother and grandmother and was always cheerful, even in tough times. Even when life was hard, she always reminded those she loved “this too shall pass”. Her strong faith in God’s steadfast love always kept her positive and smile on her face. Dot was a member of First Baptist Church, loved singing in the choir and doing anything with her church family. Besides her husband and immediate family, she was close to Charles and Myrt Pierce, Ruth Young, and Faye Lovvorn.
So many lives were touched by Dot’s great smile through the years. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends yet they know she has had a sweet reunion in Heaven with those who have gone before her. Everyone is thankful for the loving legacy she leaves behind which will no doubt be continued for generations.
