Amory- Dorothy Laverne DeVaughn, 69, died Sunday April 27, 2014 at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Born June 1, 1944 in Lamar County, AL she was a daughter of William Albert and Mary Mae McClendon Williams.
She attended Sulligent School and was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She retired from the furniture industry. Devoted to her family, she enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed word puzzles, watching TV and playing cards.
She is survived by her son, Timmy Pickle (Jena), Amory; sisters, Ella Ray Cox, Sulligent, Fay Otts, Sulligent, Ophelia Wilson (Buddy), Sulligent and Linda Ling (Bobby), Gattman; brother, Johnny Williams (Charlotte), Winfield, AL; grandchildren, Dustin Pickle, Drew Pickle and Dylan Pickle all of Amory; great granddaughter, Jenna Lynn Pickle, Amory; step grandchildren, Danielle Hill (Brandon), Amory and Tiffanie Nantz (Blake), Amory; step great grandchildren, Emily Hill, Canden Hill, Kaylie Hill, and Easton Thompson, all of Amory; a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by 2 sons, Tony and Terry Pickle; sisters, Hattie Mae Merchant, Willie Hester and Leila Breaux; brothers, Hubie, Burlie and Billy Williams.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11am, Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Burks and Bro. Glenn Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Williams, Orman Wilson, Jimmy Hester, Eric Ling, Phillip Hosch and Jacky Thomas.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 5-8pm.
