Amory- Doris J. Knight, 76, died Saturday, December 14, 2013 at her residence in Amory. Born September 27, 1937 in Smithville, she was a daughter of Charlie Bailey and Dovie Stevens Kennedy. She married Hubert Knight in 1956.
She attended Pine Grove School, was a member of Bigbee Baptist Church and worked at Wal-Mart in Amory for 17 years. A very outgoing, caring, generous and loving lady, she touched many lives through her kindness and compassion. Living like there was no tomorrow, Doris enjoyed life, fishing, singing, bingo, playing card games with family and friends, cooking and gardening.
She is survived by her daughter, Darnell Hughes (Johnny), Fulton; sons, Curtis Knight (Tina), Amory and Bert Knight (Yvonne), WA; sisters, Myrtle Horne, Madison, Novie Kemp and Eloise Johnson, both of TN, Lorene Jones, Nettleton; brother, Herman Bailey, Mantachie; grandchildren, Chris Law, Josh Knight (Carol), Nikki Wigginton (Bryon), Robert Knight, Jennifer Hughes and Tina Miller (Jason); great grandchildren, Addi and Silas Knight; a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a sister, Frances Kennedy Sanders; brothers, Jimmy Dale Kennedy and LeRoy Kennedy; nephews, Steven Dale Kennedy and Gary Thomas Bailey.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:30pm, Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Painter officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jay Pierce, Brian Reed, Richard Skelton, Jason Miller, Richard Walls, David Dallas and John Law. Honorary pallbearers will be Wal-Mart Associates.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 5-8pm.
