Doris Cox

Becker – Doris Cox, 70, died on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at her residence. Born on March 4, 1943, in Missouri, she was a daughter of the late Jim and Mary Brown Flanagan.

She married Mickey Ray Cox on May 3, 1961. Returning to Amory in 1976 from the Gulf Coast, Mrs. Cox worked as a seamstress in the local garment and furniture industries. She was Southern Baptist. Family-oriented, sensitive and having a big heart, Mrs. Cox’s life revolved around her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed dancing with her husband, her animals, being outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping, listening to Country Oldies, and supporting St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Mickey Ray Cox, Becker; sons, Rickey Cox and Stevie Cox (Sharon) of Becker; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Haines, Memphis; grandchildren, Bridgett Cox, Allen Davis, Clayton Davis, and Brandon Cox of Becker; great-granddaughter, Georgia Lynn Davis, Caledonia; and special friend, Martha Jo Borcicky, Tupelo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Ora Cox.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, July 23 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Camp officiating. Burial will follow in Young Memorial Garden. Pallbearers will be Allen Davis, Clayton Davis, Rick West, Jr., Rick West, Sr., Rodney Young, and Tim Holcomb. Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Fears, Ned Gann, and B. J. Copeland.

Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM on Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
