Greenwood Springs - Dora Louise West, 70, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory. Born in Grady County, Georgia was a daughter of Eva Mae Ritter and the late James Godwin. She attended school in Georgia and graduated from Wiggin High School. She married Roy West in 1975 that preceded her in death. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. Louise was a seamstress for Byhalia manufacturing.
One of Louise’s favorite pastimes was to go fish for catfish. She also liked to listen to old country and gospel music. She also enjoyed cooking and watching Little House on the Prairie. Louise’s greatest joy was to play with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for the love that she had for her family.
Louise West is survived by her daughters: Teresa Swartz (Wayne), Amory; Sadie Keeton (Robert), Aberdeen; Angela Harrelson (Richard), Amory; Amber West, Greenwood Springs; sons: James Chavis (Helen), Smithville; David Chavis, Greenwood Springs; Calvin Chavis (Sherry), Amory; Justin West, Amory; her mother, Eva Mae Overstreet; grandchildren: Crystal Powell, Shawn Swartz, Tiffany Swartz, Roy Chavis, Mia Chavis, Braxton Chavis, Joseph Chavis, Josh Chavis, Katie Chavis, Chyane Chavis, Patty Wilson, Dustin Chavis, Amanda Chavis; 12 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Charley Goodwin.
A funeral service for Dora Louise West will be at 2:00, Sunday, March 25, 2018 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. R.D. Cline will be officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin West, Joseph Chavis, Josh Chavis, Shawn Swartz, Dustin Chavis, Roy Rinehart, Collin Wilson, and Clint Keys.
Visitation for Louise West will be on Sunday, March 25, 2018 from 12:00 – 1:50 P.M. at the funeral home.
