Donny Lynn Bennett

Amory – Donny Lynn Bennett, 45, died on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Community Hospice at Darlington Oaks, Verona. Born on February 19, 1967, in Amory, he was a son of Dottie Sue Knight Bennett and the late James Calvin Bennett.

Donny was a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1985. Working in the furniture industry most of his working years, he was a slitter operator at United Furniture. Donny was Baptist. Easy-going, independent, and a person with a huge heart, he would do anything to help others. Donny treasured spending time with his family. He enjoyed gun and coin collecting, took a lot of pride in reworking and restoring old cars, and listened to Southern Rock.

He is survived by his mother, Dottie Sue Bennett, Amory; sisters, Sharon Ann Harris (Jeff), West Point and Shelby Jean McGarrh (Darrell), Hatley; brother, Danny James Bennett and fiancée, Kerry, Amory; nephews and nieces, Brent Harris , Bradley Harris, and Byron Harris; Stephen Bennett, Michael Bennett, James Allen Bennett, and Desiree Bennett; Brandon Hendrix, Jason Hendrix, and Kristy Whitaker; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and good friends, Tony Holcomb and Kenny Ray.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Karon Jo Bennett.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, July 19 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Byron Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Pearce Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his nephews. Honorary pallbearer will be Brandon Hendrix.

Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
