Donna Dean Smith Parker

Amory – Donna Dean Smith Parker, 75, died on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at North MS Medical Center, Tupelo. Born on April 12, 1937, in Iuka, she was a daughter of the late Lenny and Lurrell Pearl Ackers Smith.

Donna attended Iuka schools where she was a basketball All-Star. Before retiring, she had worked at Amory Garment, Monroe Trouser, True Temper, Walker Manufacturing, and Tecumseh. Passionate about her faith, Donna was Baptist. Living for her family and very proud of her daughters, she always looked forward to family gatherings. Donna enjoyed Country music, working in her flowers, camping, and traveling.

She is survived by daughters, Melissa Myatt (Willie), Donnie Thornton (Mark), and Connie Parker, all of Amory; grandchildren, Shon and Alonzo Myatt; Darron Thornton (Megan); Pierce Thornton; and Amanda Knight; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Keith, Linley and Emma Thornton; and special friend of 23 years, Melvin Benton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Parker; granddaughter, Donna Nicole Myatt; and two infant grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, March 23 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Ricky Jones officiating. Burial will be in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Shon Myatt, Alonzo Myatt, Darron Thornton, and Pierce Thornton.

Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Friday at the funeral home.
