Smithville- Donna Lee Bowen, 61, Died Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at NMMC. Born June 30, 1952 in Crawfordsville, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Elsie Mae Stonebreaker Boehm. She married Daniel Bowen October 22, 1971.
Mrs. Bowen grew up in and attended school in Sauk Village, Illinois. Always smiling and living her life to help others, she was a nanny for many years before moving to Smithville, working the last 4 years at the Salvation Army in Amory. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother she loved being with her family and making them happy. An animal lover, she enjoyed taking care of her pets and rescuing other animals. She enjoyed painting, drawing, and doing craft work.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 42 years, Daniel Bowen; son Eric Bowen, Smithville; sisters, Jeannie Williams, FL, Mary Leonard (Earnest), Stuart, FL, Wanda Janssen and Mildred Clatterbuck (Herbert), all of Watseka, Ill; brothers, Ricky Boehm, Phoenix, AZ, Kim Boehm (Lori), Rockaway Beach, MO; grandson, Lucas Bowen (Mistie), Woodland; great granddaughter, Ashlynne Renee Bowen; a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
A private family memorial service will be held as Donna’s wishes are carried out, having her remains scattered in the Gulf of Mexico at Gulf Shores, Al.
