Donald Ray “Honeybee” Mitchell
Becker – Donald Ray Mitchell, 77, entered his heavenly home on June 30, 2019. He was born on August 31, 1941, and he was a son of the late Arthur Willard Mitchell and Daisy Etta Mitchell.
Donald attended school in Becker, Hatley and Sulligent, AL. He grew up with many siblings and he learned the value of family. Donald was a heavy equipment operator and truck driver before he became disabled. He had a strong work ethic and was proud to take care of his family. He married the love of his life, Barbara Jean Sargent Mitchell on July 4, 1963 and they were married for over 53 years and they were blessed by God with two children and two grandchildren.
He was a member of Bigbee Baptist Church and he believed one should always treat others the way one would want to be treated. A man with huge heart, he was a former youth counselor at church and he always would pitch in and help his neighbors or others in the community. He loved his family, wife and grandchildren dearly and they meant the world to him. He liked listening to Gospel music. In his free time, he could often be found solving all the worlds’ problems with Joe and his other friends at the local coffee shop. As he loved children, he was passionate about giving to St. Jude and Shriners.
Donald Ray will be missed dearly by all that knew and loved him. His legacy lives on in the memories he left behind for others to cherish.
