Smithville—Mr. Donald F. Lansing, 85, passed away at his residence on Saturday, July 15, 2017. He was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and was a son of the late Gustaf and Clara Degraf Lansing. He was of the Catholic faith. At an early age, he enlisted in the Navy. While he was stationed in Memphis, TN, he married Jo Ann Lansing on December 22, 1958 while stationed in Memphis, Tennessee. He spent 20 years in the Navy and was honorably discharged as a Petty Officer 1st class.
After the service, Donald and Jo Ann came to Smithville to raise their daughters, Lynda and Debbie. He worked as a supervisor for Walker Manufacturing Company and was a salesman for Kentec Industries.
He was a loving father who loved his family and was loyal to the U.S. Navy after being honorably discharged. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, VFW and American Legion. In his spare time, he loved to fish and collect coins. At home, he would listen to the songs of Frank Sinatra for relaxation.
He is survived by his daughters: Debbie Lansing and Lynda White, both of Smithville; one grandson, Coby White (Kayla), Corinth and one great-granddaughter, Maddy White.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Lansing, one sister and four brothers.
Mr. Donald F. Lansing’s celebration of life service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday morning, July 18, 2017 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Danny Burks officiating. Burial will follow at Peace Chapel Cemetery in Smithville. Members of the Patriot Guardsmen will serve as Pallbearers.
Visitation for Mr. Lansing will be on Tuesday morning, July 18 from 9:00 – 10:45 A.M. at the funeral home.
