Donald G. Davis
Smithville—Donald Gene Davis, 76, died on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born June 13, 1937 in Okolona, he was a son of Gilbert and Jewel Gray Davis. He was a graduate of Becker Schools. Before his retirement, he worked as a carpenter and painter. Guided by his faith in God, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Plantersville. Known for his smile, he enjoyed spending time with his family, eating out, visiting Ballard Park, fishing, and going to Wal-Mart.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 4 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Plantersville with Bro. Danny Balint officiating. Burial will be in the Petty Cemetery. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Knox (Jimmy) of Mooreville and Cindy Kimble (Eugene) of Nettleton; two sons, Don Davis of Smithville and Doyle Davis of Prosper, TX; two sisters, Syble Thornton of Becker and Bonnie Buchanan of Wren; one brother, J.W. Davis of Amory; 5 grandchildren, Alisha Goff, Eric Knox, Eli Aronoff, Ethan Davis, and Emily Kimble; and one great grandchild, Ann Hayden Goff.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Herschel Davis; and two sisters, Frances Hall and Betty Langford.
Pallbearers will be Eric Knox, Eli Aronoff, Dale Langford, Robert Buchanan, John Adam Goff, and Ethan Davis.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the church.
