Amory— Don Hightower, 78, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at his home surrounded by family and friends.
Don was born on March 15, 1940 in Eros, Louisiana and graduated from West Monroe High School. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in West Germany. Don married the love of his life, Karen, on November 9, 1963. He was an employee of True Temper for 37 years. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church. Don loved fishing, growing vegetables, and spending time outdoors.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Karen Hightower; daughter, Roxanne Aiken (Charles) of Fleming Island, FL; son, Dwayne Hightower (Nicole) of Tupelo, MS; five grandchildren, Drew Aiken of Savannah, GA, Sam Aiken of Mississippi State University, Rachel Aiken of University of Florida, John Curtis Hightower and Luke Hightower, both of Tupelo, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leander Hightower, Mary Irene Carter and step-father, Curtis Carter.
A funeral mass at St. Helen Catholic Church, Amory, MS, will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM, officiated by Sr. Lael Niblick and Rev. Antony Chakkalakkal. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 10:00 AM at the church. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
Pallbearers are Sam Aiken, John Curtis Hightower, John Kessler, Brad Tate, Len Pinkley, and Jimmy Eastman. Honorary pallbearers are Drew Aiken, Tayler Kessler, Lloyd Minor, Bob Schaefer and Ike McMullin.
