Diane Wright Patterson

Amory - Fredda Diane Patterson, age 79, met her Savior, Jesus Christ, face to face on April 30, 2023 and became fully healed. Diane was born to Mr. and Mrs. Fred P. Wright on December 18, 1943 in Amory, MS.

She was a 1961 graduate of Amory High School. She then attended Mississippi State College for Women where she was involved in Jesters club and graduated in 1964. She worked as a librarian for the Amory School District working with all age groups at various points in her career. She especially enjoyed working with young children where she could let her goofy personality shine through. On August 2, 1964, she married the love of her life, Douglas Wayne “Pete" Patterson. They were blessed with 58 happy years together and 2 children, Stan and Ellen.

Diane enjoyed taking care of her many cats over the years, traveling with her cousins and friends, and being a loving grandmother to her 4 grandchildren. She was very involved with Amory First Methodist Church where she enjoyed working with the youth and singing in the choir. She was active in many civic organizations in Amory throughout the years and enjoyed her time in Junior Auxiliary, Century Club, and Aurora Club. She was loved by many people for her spunky and bright personality, and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Pete; her children, Douglas Stanton Patterson (Karen) of Raleigh, NC; and Elizabeth Ellen Wiygul (Scott) of Amory, MS; and her grandchildren, Claire Elizabeth Wiygul, Wiley John Patterson, Nora Elizabeth Patterson, and Grace Olivia Patterson; one brother, Douglas Martin Wright (Jeannie) of Cary, NC; special cousins, Joby Smith Johnson (Doug) of Frisco, TX and June Tidwell Godwin of Trussville, AL; special caregivers, Liz Blanchard and Gabby, Ty, and Alvina; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents Judge and Mrs. Fred P. Wright, a grandson, Robert Alexander Wiygul, and her grandmother Beulah Nelson Martin Nabors.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at First Methodist Church in Amory, MS at 3 pm. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Hill, Earl Bunch, Tom Cooley, Jerry Lyons, Larry Johnson, Steve Palmer, Jason Gallop, and Paul James. Visitation will be from 1pm until time of the service.
