Nettleton – Deborah West Young, 53, died on Monday, October 1, 2012, at North MS Medical Center. Born on March 31, 1959, in St. Louis, MO, she was a daughter of the late Helen Louise Davis West Patton and Harvey T. West.
Deborah attended Nettleton schools. On September 19, 1975, she married Donny Young. Before becoming a homemaker, Deborah worked at Stanley Hardware. Strong in her faith, she was a member of New Vision Worship Center. Deborah always looked forward to spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren in their church drama performances. She enjoyed cooking, playing bingo, fishing, cleaning, and listening to Gospel and Country music.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Donny Young, Nettleton; daughter and caretaker, Brandy Pickle (Jeff), Nettleton; son, Steven Young (Dawyon Johnson), Nettleton; sisters, Janie Merrell (Roland), Shannon, Mary Catt (James), New Albany, Sherry White (Jody), Detroit, AL, Brenda Guyton (John), Amory, and Tammy Allen (Sam), Amory; brothers, Harvey West (Tessie), Amory, Keith West (Nancey), Nettleton, and Kenneth West (Rita), Nettleton; grandchildren, Katlin Renfro, Summer Renfro, Austin Renfro, Jaslyn Young, and Ayla Johnson, all of Nettleton; a host of nieces and nephews; special friend, Sherry Jones; and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Young; step-dad, Bob Patton; sisters, Rebecca Sue West, Bonnie Lee West, and Linda Faye West Haywood; brothers, Treyton and Darren Lewis West; father-in-law; and grandparents.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, October 4 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Jesse Strider and Bro. Vance Kimble officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Anthony West, Darrell Haywood, Tim Seller, John McDonald, David Westmoreland, Bobby Allred, and Rick Matthews. Honorary pallbearers will be James Holloway, Roland Merrell, and Danny Leach.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home and continue until the service hour on Thursday.
