Amory - Debbie McAllister Andrews, 61, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018, at NMMC, Tupelo. Born on January 22, 1957, in New Albany, she was a daughter of the late Dan and Jewel Ard McAllister.
She was a graduate of New Albany High School, Class of 1974, and Northeast MS Community College. Debbie was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Albany.
She worked in various health related positions in New Albany and Tupelo. Moving to Amory 20 years ago, Debbie was employed as a Medical Transcriptionist for Gilmore Memorial Hospital and later for Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare.
In Amory, she became a very active and dedicated member of St. Andrews United Methodist church. With church playing a very important part of her life, Debbie was a very active member of the choir; served on the Council on Ministries; the Administrative Board; taught ladies Sunday school class; and was a Lay speaker. She was also the former Tupelo District Director of Lay Speaking.
Debbie loved her family, especially her great-nieces. Having a heart of compassion, she loved helping people. She was passionate about all types of music except Country. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping and creating beautiful cross-stitching.
Debbie was survived by her sister, Ruth Griffith and husband Thomas Griffith, Amory; her nephews and their families, Tommy, Teresa, Erin, and Logann Griffith; Dan, Laura, Sydney and Reese Griffith. She is also survived by her extended family, Bill and Donna Griffith; Ellie, Jotham, Avery and Drew LaPorte; John Craig and Emily Griffith; her church family; and her beloved dog, BeBe.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bill McAllister.
A celebration of life service for Debbie will be Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at 11 AM, at St. Andrews United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Gordon officiating. Musicians will be Mrs. Elane Finley and Mrs. Darlene Stockton. A eulogy will be given by Mrs. Karen Harris. Burial will be in New Albany Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Shelley, Rick Gault, Butch Grissom, Jimmy Glenn, Bunky Gosa, Chris Ericson, and Edd Finley.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 28, 2019, from 10:00 AM until 10:50 AM at the church.
