Dawn Arlen Graves
Aberdeen – Dawn Arlen Ashley Graves, 76, met her Savior face to face and became totally healed on April 3, 2023. She was born on November 18, 1946, in Natchez, Mississippi to the late Roy Ashley and Mary Lee Humble Ashley.
Dawn lived in both Louisiana and Mississippi as a young lady and was determined to get a good education. She obtained her GED and later went on to be named the Valedictorian of the Delta Business School in Vidalia, Louisiana. She obtained her Associates Degree in Business Administration. Dawn served the community and worked for many years at the Adams County Courthouse in the County Clerk’s office in Natchez, MS. Dawn was a great provider and mother for her family. She was proud of the fine young adults they had become and she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A spunky, caring and loving Grandma, she believed in the Lord and cherished the gift of family that God had given her. She was a member of Tranquil Methodist Church in Wren, MS and she loved her fellow church members. The classic church hymns were her favorite type of music to sing. Dawn had a soft spot for animals as she appreciated their loyalty and their companionship. She loved to do anything outside and especially enjoyed making her yard look beautiful. One of her closest friends was her sister, Sylvia, and they made many great memories together, shopping for the best bargains. In her free time, she loved to gather at Abundant Life Adult Activity Center at First Baptist in Amory, where she could socialize with friends. Dawn also liked to do cross word puzzles, cross stitch items, work jigsaw puzzles, and paint.
Her family consider themselves blessed to have had such a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother in their lives. They will miss her dearly yet they know she is at peace and surrounded with nothing but pure love.
Left behind to treasure the memories of her are her daughter, Tanya Wells (Danny), Wren; son, Denny McPhate, Hot Springs, Arkansas; grandchildren, Shane Wells (Sara), Brandon Wells (Victoria), Rainne Ratliff (Chris), Jared McPhate (Catherine), and Amos McPhate; great-grandchildren, Brett and Case Wells; Walker and Wren Wells; Rivers Lee; Gracie Ratliff; and Lily Mae McPhate; sister , Sylvia Myers, Monterey, Louisiana; nephew, Van Myers (Jennifer); niece, Ashley Powell (David);
She preceded in death by her parents, Roy Ashley and Mary Lee Humble Ashley.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023, at 3:00 pm at Tranquil Cemetery, Wren, Mississippi with Dr. Ray Rooney officiating.
Memorials or donations in her memory may be made to assist with the Building Fund at Tranquil Methodist Church in Wren, Mississippi.
