Smithville – Rev. David Lann, 72, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014, at NMMC, Tupelo. Born on July 21, 1942, in Monroe County, he was a son of the late Burley Dow and Eunice Irene Gregory Lann.
He was a graduate of Smithville High, Class of 1962. On March 16, 1962, he married Janice Brasfield. Saved in 1962, following Rev. Thomas Wigginton’s message, Bro. David was called to preach in 1963. A man of faith who loved God and was passionate about sharing His Word, he was the pastor at Guntown Assembly, Assistant Pastor at Corinth- Christian Assembly, Pastor at Birmingham- Graymont Assembly, Tupelo- Faith Assembly, and had been at East Heights Assembly of God in Tupelo since 1999. Having a big heart, he loved his family, preaching, helping people, and enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, woodworking, singing and playing Southern Gospel music, and being an avid collector.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Janice Lann, Smithville; the Lann Clann: Daughter, Angie Jones (Darrel), of Hamilton, AL; Sons, Stephen Lann (Barbara), Michael Lann (Regina), Anthony Lann (Christy) of Smithville, Patrick Lann (Ashley), Shannon, T. J. Lann, of Smithville; Brother, Danny Lann (Barbara), Tremont; Grandchildren, Nikki, Ashley, Brittne', Cory, Zachary, Keshia, Courtney, Linsey, Andrew, Brandy, Brandon, Gracie, Grayson, Dustin, Katie, Ashtann, Seth, Madelynn, Kylie, Elli, Abbigayle, Tyler; Great-grandchildren, Hunter, Parker, Austin, Carley, Carson, Peyton, Braxton, Kynzlee, Kymber, Shooter; Niece & Nephew, Amy Daniels & Matthew Lann; numerous special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
His Service will be held at 4 PM, Wednesday, August 20 at First Assembly of God, 510 Tschudi Rd, Amory with Rev. Bob Wilburn and Rev. Mike Price officiating. Burial will be in Pearce Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Cory, Zachary, Andrew, Brandon, Grayson, Dustin, Seth, & Tyler.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Tuesday and 3 PM until the service hour, Wednesday at the church.
