Amory - Daniel Larry Knox, 19, died on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at his residence in Starkville. Born on January 13, 1991, in Amory, he was a son of Larry Wayne & Veronica Roza Knox.
Gifted with an infectious personality, Daniel always strived to do and be the best that he could be. A sophomore at Mississippi State University majoring in electrical engineering, he was a cadet in the Air Force ROTC. Once commissioned as an officer after graduation, Daniel wanted to be assigned to the explosive ordinance division so he could protect his Country. A member of First Baptist Church, he was active in Sunday school and youth programs. Daniel accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at the age of 10. Daniel enjoyed going on mission trips with his family that helped children and youth. Always into something, he was a practical joker and an inventor. Daniel loved his family and friends and cherished spoiling and spending time with his sister, Mattie. He was a gifted guitar player.
He is survived by his parents, Larry & Veronica Knox, Amory; brother, George Wayne Knox, Amory; sisters, Sarah K. (Dennis) Ellzey, New Orleans, LA, and Mattie Lian Knox, Amory; grandparents, George and Lillie Knox, Prairie and Helen Roza, Amory; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, George M. Roza.
A Celebration of Life service for Daniel Knox will be held at 10 AM, Friday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Allen Simpson, Bro. Jimmy McFatter, and Bro. Matt Stark officiating. Burial with honors bestowed by his ROTC unit will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Wayne Knox, Kyle Tubb, Barrett Edens, Mark and Matthew Creekmore, Trent Harmon and Gus Brand. Honorary pallbearers will be Brett Knox, Clayton and Aidan Dickerson, Aaron and Micah Goldman, Dane Christensen and cadets of the Air Force ROTC.
Visitation will be from 4 – 8 PM, Thursday at the funeral home.
