Smithville – Curtis Young, 69, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Diversicare Nursing Center of Amory, MS. Born on June 28, 1951, in Okolona, MS, he was the son of the late Jack Otis Young and Betty Pearl Kennedy Young.
Curtis grew up in Nettleton. He married Patricia Gillentine and they were blessed with four children. He loved his family and friends dearly and cared especially for his grandkids. He attended the Pentecostal Church and loved the Lord. His favorite past time was listening to Gospel Music. He also played the guitar and was always happy to worship the Lord through music.
A man with a green thumb, Curtis loved to tend to his vegetable garden. He also liked fishing with his close friends, Joey Presley, Gene Presley and Larry Presley. A man with an easy going attitude, he was always a joy to be around.
Although his presence will be missed greatly, his family has peace knowing that he has gone home to be the Lord. They will cherish all the love he gave them as well as memories made with him.
He is survived by his son, Albert Lee Young (Anita), Smithville; daughters, Betty Mae Presley (Randy), Smithville, Odean R. Young, Amory; ; grandchildren, Brittany and Jeremy Presley; Braxton and David Young; Josh Young; Lacey and Sarah Poteet.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Robinette Young.
A private graveside service was held on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at 1:00 pm with Bro. Larry Monaghan officiating, at Kennedy Haven Cemetery, Amory, MS.
