Amory – Mary Colleen Dill, 78, died on Saturday, October 29, 2011, at her residence. Born on April 14, 1933, in Quincy, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Melvin Roberts, Sr., and Alva Lillian Victoria Waycaster Roberts.
Mrs. Dill was a graduate of Greenwood Springs High School, Class of 1951, where she was an outstanding basketball player. She had worked as a secretary for Red Kapp Industries. Widowed at a young age, she was proud of raising her three daughters and sending them to college. A woman of faith, she was a member of Meadowood Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday school class. Enjoying music of all kinds, especially Gospel, Bluegrass, and Country, she played the guitar, mandolin, and piano. Having a strong love for her family and friends, Mrs. Dill was known for being strong, caring, giving, and an artistic lady. She enjoyed quilting and sewing for her grandchildren. An unselfish person, Mrs. Dill was passionate about The Angel Tree so that all children would have a good Christmas. A member of the Downey Girls birthday group, she enjoyed their time together celebrating birthdays and taking trips together.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah “Debbie” Culver (Bert), Amory, Vicki Dobbs (Benny), Hamilton, and Sherry Dill, Amory; sister, Juanita Funderburg, Amory; grandchildren, Terri Wilbanks (Josh), Tyler Jarrett, and Tori Jarrett, Amory; Payton Dobbs (B. B.) and Hallie Dobbs, Hamilton; and Freddy Culver, Memphis; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Olivia, and Juddson Wilbanks, Amory; and Paxton and Preslee Dobbs, Hamilton; and a special nephew, Eli White.
In addition to her parents, Tom and Sue Roberts, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dill, and a brother, Thomas Roberts, Jr.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, November 1 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Dr. Lloyd Sweatt, Bro. Dale Funderburk, and Bro. Trey Roberts officiating.
