Matthew Cole Archer

Wren – Matthew Cole Archer, 35, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016, at NMMC, Tupelo. Born on April 9, 1981, in Amory, he was a son of Doris Pierce Archer and the late Ronald Cole Archer.

A very loving, giving and determined young man passed away on December 30, 2016 and he will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Growing up, Cole Archer attended Hatley Elementary school and graduated from Amory High School. He went on to further his education at ICC and receive a Bachelor of Science at the University of Southern Mississippi. He honorably served our country for 2 years in the United States Air Force. Working for WLOX Television Station in Biloxi, Cole enjoyed being a news producer. Cole was blessed by God with a son, Matt, whom he loved deeply. He was a protective big brother to his sister and a great helper for his mother. Above all, God guided his life and he was a dedicated and active member of Grady’s Chapel United Methodist Church. He worked as an usher and did whatever needed to be done around the church.

In his free time, Cole volunteered with the Wren Fire Department and worked on miscellaneous projects with his friend Brandon Hatcher. He was gifted in making things with his hands and he enjoyed being outdoors. Cole loved spending time with his son, riding ATV’s, and doing anything outdoors which involved adventure. He was passionate about family and the importance an education played in a person’s life. He helped keep the Pisgah Cemetery maintained and he could always be found helping someone in need. The memories he gave his family and friends will be cherished forever.

Cole is survived by his mother, Doris Archer, Wren; son, Matthew Reed Archer, Liberty, SC; sister, Kerry Archer, Wren; nephew, Ronald Pierce Archer; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to his father, Ronald Archer, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, J. C. and Lorine Archer and Cecil and Zana Mae Pierce; uncles, James Archer and Larry Pierce.
