Greenwood Springs – Clovis Green Blaylock, 81, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2014, at Gilmore Memorial RMC in Amory. Born on January 8, 1933, in Monroe County, he was a son of the late James David and Lonia Madgie White Blaylock.

Mr. Blaylock attended Sipsey Fork School. Later, he moved to Chicago where he met his wife to be. On April 5, 1952, he married Ila Faye Smith. Moving back to Greenwood Springs in 1959, he worked at Futorian Manufacturing in Okolona, True Temper, and Monroe County Sanitation Department before retiring. Soon thereafter, he began a part-time lawn mowing service and always enjoyed his conversations with folks. A Godly man who was guided by his faith in the Lord, Mr. Blaylock was a member of Splunge Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for over 40 years. He believed in having a good time, living a Christian life, and striving to do his best at everything. He was a member and 32nd Degree Mason and Past Master of Masonic Lodge #602 in Splunge and the Scottish Rite. Mr. Blaylock supported many charities, one of which was St. Jude. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hunting, and being part of the Country Store Breakfast Club in Greenwood Springs.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ila Faye Blaylock, Greenwood Springs; daughters, Patricia Ann Blaylock McKissick (Buddy), Smithville, and Barbara Jean Blaylock Smith (Paul), Acworth, GA; sons, Jerry Wayne Blaylock (Michele) and Terry DeWayne Blaylock (Teresa) of Greenwood Springs; grandchildren, Shane Blaylock (Lynne), Valerie Smith de la Llama (Ryan), Sherri Smith, Hannah McKissick Locke (Brandon), Luke Blaylock, Hasten McKissick, and Austin, Tate and A. J. Blaylock; great-grandchildren, Kameron Earnest, and Ezra and Isaac de la Llama; a host of nieces & nephews; special nephew and caregiver, Ray Blaylock; and special friends, Odeen Adams and Millie Hyde.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Brice Austin McKissick; sisters, Mary B. Stevens, Elsie B. Markham, Lorene B. Smith, and Cletter Bell “Polly” Blaylock; brothers, Condria, Elmo and J. D. Blaylock; paternal grandparents, John Hasten and Malinda Ray Blaylock; and maternal grandparents, Alfred and Pink Nichols White.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, December 31 at New Center Point Church with Bro. Dale Ford and Bro. Edward Puckett officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in Blaylock Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Shane, Luke and Tate Blaylock; Hasten McKissick; Austin and A. J. Blaylock. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Masonic Lodge #602, Splunge.

Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home. He will lie-in-state at the church on Wednesday from Noon until the service hour.
