Bethlehem Community - Clinton Henry Hathcock, 84, passed away at his residence surrounded by his children on Tuesday, June 27, 2017. Born on September 13, 1932, Clinton was a son of the late B.G. and Mattie Silas Hathcock.
Clinton loved the Bethlehem community where he lived for his entire life. After completion of school, he served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. During this time, he served 13 months in the Korean conflict. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Jean Millican, on November 28, 1958. Together they had 5 wonderful children. Clinton was employed as a maintenance technician by the Monroe County School district for many years.
Clinton committed to God at the early age of 18. He was a charter member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist church where he proudly served as a Deacon. He has been a member of his beloved church for 66 years.
He never met a stranger. Clinton was a very generous soul and would give you the shirt off his back. He instilled in his children that hard work never hurt anyone and to do everything in the right way. He loved to garden and visit the Smokey Mountains. Clinton was a very devoted father who loved his family and his Bethlehem community. He will be forever in all of their hearts.
Clinton is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughters, Cathie Dill, Greenwood Springs, Cindy Cowley (Chris), Smithville; sons, Mike Hathcock (Tracey), Greenwood Springs, Darwin Hathcock (Tammi), Greenwood Springs; sister, Iva Nell West, Greenwood Springs; brother, Wilburn Hathcock (Pat), Greenwood Springs; son-in-law: Lee Smith; grandchildren, Dustin (April), Derrick, Josh (Kayla) and Hannah Hathcock; Brittany Franks; Taylor and Anna Katherine Smith; Todd and Lori Beth Cowley; great-grandchildren, Grayson Fears, Reagan Hathcock; a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Angela Hathcock Smith and brothers Hilbert and Rabon Hathcock.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Friday, June 30, 2017 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Smithville. Bro. Mike Tucker will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Harris, Jackie Carter, Winslow Cox, Dale Swan, Reggie Jones, Arlon Cox, Josh Hathcock, and Dustin Hathcock. Honorary pallbearers will be Eulon Summerford, Derrick Hathcock, Todd Cowley and Grayson Fears.
Visitation for Clinton Hathcock will be Thursday evening, June 29, 2017 from 5-8 PM at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Smithville.
