Cleta Mae Harmon

Amory — Cleta Mae Gosa Harmon, 93, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Diversicare Nursing Center, Amory, MS. She was born on September 17, 1924 in Monroe County, MS, to William Clarence Gosa and Myrtie Lee Tate Gosa Best.

Cleta Mae attended school in Becker, Mississippi. She grew up in a large family and learned early the value of family. She was blessed during her lifetime with two loving husbands, Zeke Moffett and Charles Harmon. Cleta Mae always provided for her family and friends both by working a career as well as working at home. She worked as a seamstress for Amory Garment for 40 years where she excelled at her work and often achieved 200% production. She retired when the plant closed. A notorious cook, she has fed many families in Monroe County. She loved God and her ministry was cooking for others. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church prior to her health declining. Her servant heart was obvious to all that knew Cleta Mae.

Known for her genuine smile and joyful laughter, Cleta Mae unselfishly gave to her family and community. Everyone felt loved by Cleta Mae yet some of her close friends were Billy & Betty Sizemore; Corrine Moffett; her coworkers at Amory Garment; and her beloved friends at the Amory Flower Shop. A woman with character, she loved Elvis and Conway Twitty music. Cleta Mae perfected the art of giving and the thousands of meals she provided family and friends warmed so many hearts through the years. Her greatest accomplishment in life was mirroring Christ’s example of a selfless servant who gave all to others. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother figure to everyone. Cleta Mae’s memories will be cherished forever.

Cleta Mae is survived by her step son, Tommy (Ramona) Harmon, Amory; brother, Andy (Linda) Gosa, Smithville; sister-in-law, Melba Gosa, Hamilton; step grandchildren, Shawn (Shelbie) Harmon, TJ Harmon, Misty (Scott) Robbins, Andy (Crissy) Harmon, Chip (Melanie) Harmon, Donna Watts, and Barbara Moody; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
