Amory – Claudine Maxey, 88, died on Monday, August 18, 2014, at Oak Tree Manor. Born on October 24, 1925, in Marion County, AL, she was a daughter of the late John W. And Martha LeeVinia Bowen Goodwin.
Mrs. Maxey attended Quincy School. She married Thomas H. Maxey on July 14, 1945. An entrepreneur, she was a retired hairdresser. She was a member of Hatley United Methodist Church. Loving, caring and very devoted to her granddaughter, Mrs. Maxey was a member of the DAR and an avid Ole Miss fan. She enjoyed watching TV, reading, especially romance novels, playing dominoes with friends, playing bingo at Walmart, Gospel music and loved Andy Griffith.
Survivors include her son-in-law, Doug Adair, Plantersville; sister, Pauline Coleman (Jerome), Amory; granddaughter, Angela Fowler (Heath), Auburn; a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Adair and son, Tommy Maxey.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Friday, August 22 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Crook officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Maxey, Johnny Fears, Johnny Coleman and Herman King.
Visitation will be from 6 – 8 PM, Thursday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory. .
Memorials may be given to Faith Food Pantry, Nettleton.
