Amory – C. B. “Boyd” Pickle, 88, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015, at NMMC, Tupelo. Born on December 20, 1926, in Monroe County, he was a son of the late Adrin Houston and Mishie Sarah Hathcock Pickle.
Boyd attended Phillips Schoolhouse and Trace Road School. At 16, he joined the Merchant Marines, honorably serving for 45 years. While in service, Boyd traveled all over the world. He was a member of Pearce Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Having a big heart, he was passionate about giving to his favorite charity in Mobile. Boyd enjoyed spoiling his family, loved traveling and being on the water, and wrestling.
Survivors include his nieces, Marie DeMoss, Amory, O’Clay Worthy, Smithville, Irene Deaton, Mobile, AL, and Peggy Pickle, IL; nephews, Jimmy Dale Tate, Aberdeen, James Robert and Lee Edward Prestage of Mobile, AL.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 4 brothers.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, January 26 in New Hope Cemetery with Bro. Danny Burks officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:30 AM, Monday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 AM to go in procession to the cemetery.
