Amory – Clara Mathis Aldridge, 93, died on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Oak Tree Plantation, Amory. Born on December 25, 1918, in Millport, AL, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Tillman and Annie Leonard Mathis.
On September 28, 1940, Mrs. Aldridge married Raymond Wesley Aldridge in Lowndes County. Formerly of Caledonia, she was a homemaker. A woman of strong faith, Mrs. Aldridge was a member of First Baptist Church, Amory. Passionate about her family, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Aldridge Price (Michael) and Raymagene “RJ” Aldridge, of Amory; grandchildren, Jill Savely (Keith), Columbus, Amy McCreight (Dane), Daphne, AL, Laura Stacy (Jeremy), Columbus, and Justin Price (Mandi), Amory; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friend and caregiver, Tish Legion.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and sisters, Jesse Swanzy and Irene Brock.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, June 7 at Egger Cemetery in Caledonia with Dr. Allen Simpson officiating. Pallbearers will be Dane McCreight, Keith, Savely, Justin Price, Jeremy Stacy, Zachary Thomas, Jacob Thomas, Wesley McCreight, and Everett Price. Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Oak Tree Plantation.
Everyone is asked to meet at 9:15 AM, Thursday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 – 8 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
