Hatley – Christine Stanley Farrar, 98, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Golden Living Center, Amory. Born on February 2, 1917, in Guntown, she was the daughter of the late Robert Michael and Edna Earl Clayton Stanley.
On May 3, 1935, she married Dayton Lee Farrar. Having lived in the Hatley Community since 1953, Mrs. Farrar was a member of Hatley Primitive Baptist Church. Before becoming a homemaker, she had worked as a seamstress in the area garment industry and later as a sitter for people in their homes. A loving and hard-working mother who loved her family, she enjoyed traveling, shopping, and all types of music.
She is survived by a daughter, Janice Vaughan (Jimmy), a son, Stanley Farrar (Linda), and a daughter-in-law, Linda Farrar, all of Hatley; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dayton, on February 2, 1970; 2 sons, Shelby and Lynn; 2 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, May 28, 2015, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Elder Tim Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Jay Vaughan; Michael, Sidney, Justin, Andy, and Dayton Farrar. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the service hour on Thursday at the funeral home.
