Amory, Miss.—SSG Christopher Neil Coker, 34, passed away on December 13, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after a courageous fight against cancer. Born February 15, 1979 in Amory, he was the son of Rex and Gloria Coker. A graduate of Amory High School, he attended ICC and the University of Mississippi.
SSG Coker served on active duty as a Human Resources NCO for the 1st Squadron of the 98th Cavalry Regiment in Amory, MS. He is a combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom 3 and 9.2. His awards include: The Meritorious Service Medal, three Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, two Army Good Conduct Medals, two Army Reserve Components Achievement Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, two Overseas Service Ribbons, two Armed Forces Reserve Medals with M device, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with two Campaign Stars, MS Medal of Efficiency, two MS Emergency Service Medals, two MS Longevity Medals and the MS War Medal.
Chris served faithfully as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Meadowood Baptist Church. He was also the President of the Amory Kiwanis Club, former Chairman of the Monroe County Republican Party and an avid Ole Miss Rebel fan.

Chris’s favorite and most cherished hobbies were his wife and two sons.
A Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at the Meadowood Baptist Church in Amory with Dr. Lloyd Sweatt officiating. Full military honors will be surrendered following the funeral at the Masonic Cemetery in Amory.
Survivors include his wife, Kelly Williamson Coker of Amory; two sons, Noah and Jude Coker of the home; his parents, Rex and Gloria Coker of Amory; a sister, Emily Entrekin (Maj. Michael Entrekin) of Savannah, GA; grandmother, Louie Myatt of Amory; nieces and nephews, Madelyn and Benton Entrekin, Kody, Savannah, Jack, and Julie Williamson; his mother and father-in-law, Walter and Becky Williamson of Meridian; a brother-in-law, Trey Williamson (Daphne) of Winfield, AL; and a special friend, Kent Collins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Greely Benton Myatt and grandparents, W.L. and Margaret Larkin Coker.
Pallbearers will be SSG Michah Baulch, SFC Jimmy Hutcheson, MAJ Glenn Adams, SSG Sam Gilleylen, MSG Randol Harlow, SGT John Charlwood, SFC Jeremy Mills, and SSG Nick Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rep. Chris Brown, Dr. Justin Duke, Dr. Matthew Duke, Dave Best, Brandon Hardin, Kyle Reeves, Jason Goudelock, Kent Collins, and fellow deacons of Meadowood Baptist Church.
Visitation will be 4:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Meadowood Baptist Church in Amory.
