Cheryl Jane Barksdale
Greenwood Springs – Cheryl Jane Barksdale, 75, began her new life in Heaven on Monday, December 20, 2022. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on October 25, 1947, to the late Polly Jane Harns Harris and Charles V Gillespie.
Cheryl grew up in a very close knit family with five other siblings and she attended school in Vina Alabama. At a young age, on June 24, 1967, she married the love of her life, Curt O’Neal Barksdale. They were blessed by God with a son, five grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, in whom she was most proud. Cheryl had a great work ethic and she worked her entire career as a fabric cutter in the sewing department of Amory Garment factory. She was a loving mother who was always the peacemaker in the family.
She believed in the Lord and attended Ballard Church of God in Detroit, Alabama. Cheryl lived out her faith in her daily walk, always loving others. She had complete confidence that God oversaw all things and she often could be heard saying “God’s got it”. Her best friends, in addition to her husband, were her siblings. She and her sisters often celebrated “sister’s day” once a month and would travel different places in the surrounding areas. Cheryl always looked forward to her mini vacations to the beach with her family. She enjoyed listening to Old Country and Gospel music. Cheryl was a huge Alabama fan. In her free time, she enjoyed a puzzle and playing Yahtzee with others.
Although her presence will be dearly missed her family and friends know that she is ultimately healed and has had a sweet reunion with her husband. She will be dearly missed and the memories made with her will live on in their hearts.
