Charley James Mcanally Sr.

Becker- Charley James McAnally, Sr. died Thursday July 11, 2013 at his residence. Born March 30, 1940 in Amory, he was a son of the late Charley B. and Zelda English McAnally. He married Dianne Faulkner June 20, 1965.

A Graduate of Amory High School, Charley earned his Master’s degree in Agriculture from Mississippi State University. Putting a great emphasis on education, Charley, along with Dianne, would eventually carry their love for teaching all across the US, to Alaska, Arkansas, and Mississippi, lastly teaching at the Mennonite School in Aberdeen. He attended River Bend Baptist Church, and was a member of the MS Cattleman's Association, MS Forestry Association, and American Legion. A patriotic American, Charley honorably served his country in the US Navy, Alaska National Guard, Alabama National Guard, Mississippi National Guard, and the Mississippi State Guard. He also was a law enforcement officer in Alaska and Mississippi. Having an outstanding work ethic, Charley operated several farms, and always stayed busy working everywhere he went. He and Dianne enjoyed extensive traveling, eventually making it to all 50 US states, and all 7 continents. A man of service, Charley gave willingly of himself to his family, teaching his children and grandchildren the values and morals that he stood for, and was extremely proud of his family.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dianne Faulkner McAnally; daughter, Brenda Hathcock (Andy), Kodiak, AK; sons, Charley James McAnally, Jr. (Angie), Willow, AK and Michael McAnally, Springhill, FL; sisters, Hazel Thompson, Houston, TX, Katie Nordstrom, Tampa, FL, Bonnie Hume, Amory, Daisy Jones, Amory and Shirley Morgan (Jimmy), Amory; brother, Don McAnally (Ruth), Nauvoo, AL; grandchildren, Nick Hathcock (Tiffany), Drew Hathcock, Dominique Hathcock, Bryan Pierce (Brooke), Belle Pierce, and Charley James McAnally, III; great grandson, Elijah Underwood, and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Dolly Vail and Georgia Kovarcik; brother, Stanley McAnally.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, July 13, 2013 at River Bend Baptist Church with Dr. Roy McHenry officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Nick and Drew Hathcock, John Michael Cole, Gregory Taylor, James Moffett, Eddie Knight, and Bob Sackerson.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 10 AM until service hour at the church.
