Amory – Charles Benjamin Kennedy, 78, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at his residence. Born on March 20, 1938, in Monroe County, MS, he was a son of the late K. B. and Johnie Moffett Kennedy.
Charles grew up in the Becker community, graduating in 1957. He was FFA president, Class president, voted Most Attractive, Most Likely to Succeed and Mr. BHS in 1957. He honorably served his Country in the US Army, where he was stationed in Germany, from 1957-1961. On October 15, 1961, he married the love-of-his-life, Jewel Faye Harlow.
For 25 years, Charles worked for the US Postal Service. He was a Christian and a member of Grady’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Wren. A hard-working, quiet and very generous man, Charles loved his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren. While outdoors, he enjoyed yard work and polishing cars.
His is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jewel H. Kennedy, Amory; daughter, Kimberly Kennedy Worthey (Gregg), Selmer, TN; 5 grandchildren, Justin Brooks Kennedy, David Kennedy, Rachel Worthey, Ben Worthey and Ava Worthey; 2 great-grandchildren, Ryker and Kellan Kennedy; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Kenneth Archer and Tim Pearson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Keith Kennedy; and brother, Floyd Kennedy.
His Funeral Service will be at 1 PM, Tuesday, February 21 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Pastor Dennis Smithey and Gregg Worthey officiating. Burial will follow in Wren Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin and David Kennedy; Ben Worthey; Kenneth Archer; Tim Pearson; Bud Harlow.
Visitation will be from 11 – 12:45 PM, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
