Pastor Charles E. Flippo

Gattman – Pastor Charles E. Flippo, Sr., finished his mission work here on earth and began his new life in the presence of The Lord. He was born on July 11, 1940 in Monroe County to the late Green Flippo and Viola Whitaker Flippo.

Pastor Charles grew up in Monroe County in a very large family with four brothers and four sisters. He worked for many years at True Temper Sports in Amory, MS until he retired to full time Pastor. He loved the Lord and his life’s mission was to preach the Gospel and help lead others to the Lord. He pastored in both the Living Waters Church in Priestville as well as the First Assembly of God Church in Sulligent, where he helped lead the congregation to build a larger church. He was a current member of Amory First Assembly of God and he loved his church family. Pastor Flippo loved worship time with the Lord both alone and with a crowd, with Gospel music being his favorite.
He was a joyful, outgoing and loving man who was honest and genuine in his faith. He was not sidetracked by other work, politics or any other distractions of this world, as he was only focused on leading people to Christ. Some of his close friends, who often times were his sounding board, were Bro. Ricky Kendrick, Bro. Bob Wilburn, Bro. Danny Hollis and Bro. Justin Myers. He always said that he would continue to preach at the pulpit even if Helen was the only one there. His passion for Christ was evident the minute you met him.

God blessed Charles with a large loving family. He and his first wife, Kay, were blessed with two children and many wonderful years together. After Kay passed away, he married Helen Flippo and they shared over 20 great years together. He was so proud of his family and raising them to love the Lord was so important to him. He cherished precious time with them. The legacy of wisdom and faith he instilled in them was the best gift they could have ever received from a father.

In his downtime, besides reading his Bible, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He also liked to work in his yard and make it look beautiful. In all situations, even in hard times, he would say “This is the day the Lord has made, Let us rejoice in it”. His attitude of praise and thanksgiving was contagious and his smile so comforting. He accomplished what the Lord set out for him to do during his time here. He helped people see the love of God and led them to the Lord for their salvation. He was a faithful servant and his family was so blessed because of his life.

He will be missed yet his family and friends know that he is completely free from pain and cares of this world and in the holy presence of the Lord.

His survived by his wife, Helen (Holcomb) Flippo, Gattman; daughter, Julie Kay Flippo Pipkins, Hatley; son, Charles “Chuck” E. Flippo, Jr. (Jeannie), Splunge; grandchildren, Trey Parker (Brooke), Brooke Parker Ellzey, and Macie Flippo; sister, Thelma Flynn, Sulligent, AL; many nieces and nephews.
