Charlene J. Senter

Fulton – Charlene Senter, 79, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016 at her residence. Born on August 7, 1936, in Itawamba County, Mississippi, she was a daughter of the late Trannie Gordon and Ollie Butler Jamerson.

Charlene graduated from the Itawamba Agricultural High School in 1954. She went on to further her education by attending Itawamba Junior College where she studied accounting.
All her life, Charlene was very civic oriented and she loved giving back to the public. She was blessed with three children of her own who loved her unconditionally; two daughters and a son. Later in life, she married the love of her lifetime, J. Wayne Senter. Through her husband’s support, she received her license as a funeral director and she was able to help the Senter Funeral Home staff serve the public faithfully. In their free time, Wayne and Charlene enjoyed traveling together. She was a longtime member of the Fulton First United Methodist Church and she loved to help others within the church as well as the community. Through all things, her faith in God guided her walk and kept her strong.

When it came to talent, Charlene baked the best homemade bread and zucchini bread around. Her selfless community spirit was evident in the many ways she gave back to the community. Some of these activities included volunteering at the FUMC Food Pantry, working elections, serving as President of The American Legion Auxiliary, and being a charter member of the Fulton Pilot Club. She was instrumental in organizing High School reunions. In her free time, she enjoyed solving the world’s problems while eating out with her close friends, Gola Senter and Doris Gann. They were affectionately known as the Three Amigos. Charlene was loved by many people in the Fulton community and she will be missed greatly.

Survivors include her daughters, Carol L. Moore (Phillip), Prairieville, LA, Jan L. Lann, Tupelo; grandchildren, Brett Lanphere (Hilary), Katy, TX, Samuel Moore, Prairieville, LA, Jacqueline Hood, Olive Branch, MS, Caleb Sprayberry, Nettleton, MS; great-grandchildren, Will Hood, Olive Branch, MS; a host of nieces and nephews

In addition to her parents and her husband, Wayne, she was preceded in death by her son, Reed Lesley; granddaughter, Jessica Lann; sister, Fredda Spivey.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at First United Methodist Church, Fulton, MS with Rev. Phillip Box, Rev. James Price, and Rev. Glen Wiygul.
