Amory – Cecile Langston Owings, 87, died on Friday, August 1, 2014, at River Place Nursing Center. Born on March 9, 1927, she was a daughter of the late P. E. and Lillie Grimes Langston.
Mrs. Owings was a graduate of Mooreville High School. She retired as a seamstress with Reed’s Manufacturing. Loving God first, she was a member of Amory Church of God of Prophecy, a former church treasurer, and enjoyed playing the fiddle during services. Passionate about her faith, church and serving others, she worked with her husband in the jail ministry.
Surviving are her niece, Linda Lively (John), Empire, AL; nephews, Mike Todd (Charlotte), Amory, Sterling Cooksey, Empire, AL, and Scott Todd (Jennifer), Florence, AL; and several great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Owings, and sister, Mary Rachel Box (Otis).
A Funeral Service will be held at 3 PM, Saturday, August 2 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. James Austin, Bro Mike Todd, and Bro. Randy Brand officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 – 2:50 PM, Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Pine Grove Cemetery.
