Cecil H. Williams

Amory – Cecil H. Williams, 92, died on Friday, June 22, 2012, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Born on April 26, 1920, in the Richmond Community, he was a son of the late Silas Richard Williams and Clara Hunt Williams Edwards.

Mr. Williams honorably served in the US Army as a truck driver in Alaska and a lifeguard in Florida from 1941 – 1945. He married Ruby E. Cantrell on July 7, 1945. Having a strong faith in God, he was of the Baptist faith. A farmer and a logger, Mr. Williams worked at Blue Bell for 30 years. Instilling strong core family values, he cherished spending time with his family. Mr. Williams enjoyed camping, where he shared his gift of pulling up poison oak so no one would have to worry; enjoyed helping his son build his home; and enjoyed Gospel music and watching Channel 39.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby E. Williams, Amory; son, John Richard Williams (Janyce), Becker; sister, Volene Brown, Corinth; brother, Horace Edwards, Becker; grandchildren, Penny Clay (Alan), Becker, Tammy Brown (David), Amory, and Rusty Williams (Cindy), Amory; great-grandchildren, Josh Brewer, Jessica Brewer, Kara Brown, Kayla Oliver (Jason), Cody Brown, Connor Brown, Kirk Roberts, and Laken Williams; great- great-granddaughter, Jenna; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lorene Sawyer; brothers, Grady Williams, Roy Edwards, and Lee J. Edwards.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2PM, Sunday, June 24 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rusty Williams, Cody Brown, Alan Clay, Garry Sawyer, Robert Lucas, and Joshua Brewer.

Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to a charity of choice.
