Born on December 28, 1919, in Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late Jay Elijah and Ida Jane Myers Howell.Mrs. Owings attended Becker School. For 54 years, she worked as a thread lady for Amory Garment. Faithful to the Lord and her church, Mrs. Owings was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Loving and giving with a big heart, her life was guided by her faith and family. She was passionate about Palmer Home for Children. Mrs. Owings enjoyed gardening and Gospel music.A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM, Monday, January 16 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Mac Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Howell Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jay London, James Roy Tate, Terry Pinkerton, Frank Bender, Bo Lancaster, Terry Carter, Scotty Carter, Randy Leech, Bryan Owens, Mike Hawkins, and David Lusby. Honorary pallbearers will Bud House, Jimmy Kirkpatrick, Kurt Gray, and Butch Barrett.Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.She is survived by a daughter, Billie Jean Hawkins (Grant), Aberdeen; sons, Bobby M. Owings (Jo Ann) and Ronnie H. Owings (Lisa), of Aberdeen; brother-in-law, Floyd “Cotton” Lusby (Alice), Aberdeen; grandchildren, Terri Lynn London (Jay), Felicia Murrah (Scotty), Staci Minor, Lance Owings (Courtney), and Hunter and Taylor Owings; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
